Threatening emotional or physical overwhelm (trauma) is at the root of most chronic illness, pain, anxiety, addictions, and so on.
But you can inherit and carry for parents or ancestors unresolved trauma you never personally experienced.
Or pass your own or ancestral trauma on to your children. .
At the same time, characteristic strengths pass down to you from ancestors as well. Most families have their particular resiliences.
Knowing for whom in your ancestry you may carry trauma, and who stands in support of you is very helpful. This also tells you what may affect your children.
What Happens in This Session?
I spend an hour and a quarter or slightly more with you (either in-person or remotely) during which we create a "trauma-gram" (a genogram of inherited trauma and support for resolving it) by doing the following:
Pick out the one or two main change-resistant problems you or your child face
Look at the current circumstances around them (what blocks, what supports positive shifts)
Scan your birth and ancestral families for similar patterns
Meanwhile I'm creating a "trauma-gram"--a genogram focused on threatening overwhelms and their likely antitdotes
In summary, I tell you where the most likely developmental or ancestral wound systems are, and where best to find ease and strength.
